Maxine is a primary protagonist of the show. She is often found exchanging rude but playful remarks with Kyle Barker and they eventually become each other's love interest. Max is always over at the James' and Hunter residence eating their food and having conversations. Max is an attorney, usually entering a room and greeting everyone by saying her famous catchphrase "Maxine Shaw, Attorney at Law." She is played by Erika Alexander. Erika Alexander is the youngest cast member. Alexander won a NAAC
